欧盟评估乳糖-N-新四糖作为新型食品的安全性

2020年11月19日,据欧盟食品安全局(EFSA)消息,欧盟营养、新型食品和食物过敏源(NDA)研究小组就乳糖-N-新四糖(lacto‐N‐neotetraose)作为新型食品的安全性发表科学意见。据了解,乳糖-N-新四糖是由大肠杆菌BL21的衍生菌株生产的。经过评估,专家小组得出结论,在提议使用条件下,乳糖-N-新四糖作为新型食品是安全性的。部分原文报道如下:FollowingarequestfromtheEuropeanCommission,theEFSAPanelonNutrition,NovelFoodsandFoodAllergens(NDA)wasaskedtodeliveranopiniononthechangeintheproductionprocessandspecificationsoflacto‐N‐neotetraose(LNnT)asanovelfood(NF)pursuanttoRegulation(EU)2015/2283.TheNFismainlycomposedofthehuman‐identicalmilkoligosaccharide(HiMO)LNnTbutalsocontainslactose,lacto‐N‐trioseII(LNTII),para‐lacto‐N‐neo‐hexaose(para‐LNnH)andotherrelatedcarbohydrates.TheNFisproducedbyfermentationwithtwogeneticallymodifiedstrainsofEscherichiacoliBL21.LNnTwhenchemicallysynthesisedorproducedbymicrobialfermentationusinganotherE.colistrain(K‐12)isalreadyauthorisedandincludedintheEUlistofNFs.Thisapplicationislimitedtoachangeinthemanufacturingprocessandspecificationswhiletargetpopulation,usesanduselevelsandconsequentlytheanticipatedintakedonotchange.Theinformationprovidedonthemanufacturingprocess,includingtheabsenceofDNAfromtheproducingmicroorganisms,composition,identityandspecificationsoftheNFdonotraisesafetyconcerns.Particularly,theproposedchangesinthespecificationsarelimitedtoaslightlyhigherashcontentandlimitsforthepresenceofyeastandmoulds,whilespecificationsformethanolandLNnTfructoseisomerhavebeenremoved.FoodsupplementsarenotintendedtobeusedifotherfoodswiththeaddedNForbreastmilkforyoungchildrenareconsumedonthesameday.ThePanelconcludesthatlacto‐N‐neotetraose(LNnT)asaNFwhenproducedbyfermentationwithtwogeneticallymodifiedstrainsofE.coliBL21issafeundertheproposedconditionsofuse.
